Greg Glaus is the Executive Deputy Athletics Director at Kent State University, overseeing the department’s operations, business and finance strategy, facilities and capital projects, NCAA compliance, and the department’s comprehensive sport supervision program. In his role, he also lead the implementation of the Play As One Strategic Plan, manages and negotiates key departmental contracts, capital projects oversight, strategic revenue generation implementation, and serves as the sport administrator for football and gymnastics.
Since rejoining the Golden Flashes in 2021, the department has achieved record-setting success:
- Academic Excellence: Highest GPA in program history (3.396, Spring 2025), a first-ever GPA above 3.0 for every team, and a 92% Graduation Success Rate (GSR).
- Athletic Achievements: Fourth bowl game appearance in football, seventh NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament berth, nine regular season MAC Championships, eleven MAC Tournament Championships, and nine MAC Coaches of the Year.
- Capital Projects: Over $8 million in improvements across 19 sports, including renovations to Football team and meeting rooms, Men’s Basketball locker room, Women’s Basketball film room, Devine Diamond Softball renovation, the Gymnastics practice facility, and Field House track replacement.
- Revenue Growth: Negotiated contracts totaling over $40 million, including a comprehensive sports medicine partnership, new ten year multi-media rights deal, and a new apparel agreement, while increasing licensing royalties by 58% and ticket sales revenue by 60%.
Before returning to Kent State, Glaus served as Senior Associate Athletics Director at Texas Tech University, where he led academic services, strategic planning (Strategy to Win), and key initiatives like the Name, Image, and Likeness Task Force and COVID-19 Task Force from 2017-2021.
He began his career at Kent State as a graduate assistant academic advisor before transitioning to athletics in 2007, holding progressive leadership roles through 2017.
A native of Barberton, Ohio, Glaus holds a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education from Wright State University, a master’s in higher education administration from Kent State, and is completing his Ph.D. in the same field with his dissertation topic of Strategic Planning in DI FBS Athletic Departments. He and his wife, Amie, have four daughters: Grace, Claire, Scarlet, and Victoria.
