Prior to Kent State
• All-State selection as a senior in 2011 and All-Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) pick as a junior in 2010 and as a senior in 2011 at Hopewell High School in Aliquippa, Pa., under head coach Terry Borkovic.
• Led the Vikings in passing and digs while serving as team captain as a senior in 2011. Also led Hopewell in digs as a junior in 2010.
• Also competed for Pittsburgh Three Rivers Volleyball Club under head coach Rob Snyder, helping lead the squad to back-to-back Junior National Championship qualifications in 2010 and '11.
Personal
• Born Feb. 14, 1994.
• Daughter of Dan and Debbie Rains. Siblings are Lindsay and Jared. Father, Dan, played football at the collegiate level at Cincinnati and played linebacker for the Chicago Bears for four years (1982-85), helping guide the Bears to the Super Bowl XX title in 1985 and appearing in the famous 'Super Bowl Shuffle' music video. Brother, Jared, also played football at Cincinnati.
• Majoring in exercise science.
• Was an honor roll student and a member of the National Art Honors Society at Hopewell High School.
• Nicknames are 'Lex' and 'Lexie.'
