Johnni DiJulius joined the Kent State wrestling staff as a volunteer assistant in October of 2016. Returning to Northeast Ohio, the Aurora native was a four-time NCAA qualifier at Ohio State.
Competing at 133 pounds, DiJulius claimed over 100 career victories with the Buckeyes and won a tournament title at the prestigious Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational. In high school, he won three OHSAA state titles at Walsh Jesuit.
"Johnni's a great person to have involved in our program, "Head Coach Jim Andrassy said. "He's a gym rat. He loves the sport and being around it. And he brings a lot of good experience with him."
Currently working with an area club team, DiJulius will also have a lead role with the Golden Pride Wrestling Club.
"It's always great to get somebody local," Andrassy added. "He knows a lot of people in the area. When his career's all said and done. I could see him as being someone who was even better at coaching than he was a wrestler."Â
