Dr. Nilesh Shah is a team physician for Kent State University athletics. Dr. Shah obtained his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health in 1998. He completed his family practice residency at Grant Memorial Center and a sports medicine fellowship at The Ohio State University. Since 2002, Dr. Shah has been practicing in Akron, Ohio, specializing in the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries.
He is also currently a partner at Summa Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine and the Medical Director for the Summa Center for Sports Health. He is board certified in family medicine and possesses a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine. In addition to being a team physician for Kent State University, Dr. Shah is the team physician for the Akron Aeros, Kent Roosevelt High School, and Extreme Team of Northeast Ohio. He cares for many other teams and is the Medical Director for the Akron Marathon and was formerly the Medical Director for the LaBron James King for Kids Bike-a-thon. An avid runner, Dr. Shah has completed over 15 marathons and a half-ironman triathlon.
