PALM COAST, Fla.-- Kent State University womens golfer Gabby Wedding (Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington) won the first round of match play at the U.S. Womens Amateur Public Links Championships Thursday (June 19). Wedding defeated the University of Oklahomas Allison Johnson of Amarillo, Texas, 3 and 1 at the Ocean Hammock Golf Club in Palm Coast, Fla.After Wedding bogeyed the opening hole, she birdied the second to square the match. When Johnson double bogeyed the fourth hole, Wedding took the led and never looked back. With the win, Wedding advances to the second round to face the winner of Virada Nirapathpongporn of Thailand and Carling Cho of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.Weddings second round match begins Friday, June 20, at 7:30 a.m.
