Women's Golfers Named NGCA All-American Scholars

Kent State University womens golfers Gabby Wedding (Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington) and Becky Wood (Derbyshire, England/Glossopdale C.C.) were named to the 2003 Division I National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-American Scholar Team, announced July 22.Wedding, a two-time first-team all-Mid-American Conference (MAC) selection, finished third at the MAC Championships (76-71-77=224). She was named the MAC Womens Golfer of the Week April 23 and made an appearance on the Academic All-MAC Womens Golf Team. Wedding finished the season third on the KSU squad and in the MAC with a 76.38 stroke average.Wood tied for fourth at the MAC Championships (75-76-74=225) on her way to being named to the All-MAC Second Team in her first season at Kent State. She averaged 79.29 strokes per round, which finished 14th in the MAC. The criteria for selection to the Division I NGCA All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent of all college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 (3.40 for Seniors) and student-athletes must have competed in at least 66% of the colleges regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
