Parrish Tabbed as MAC Defensive Player of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Kent State University junior outside linebacker Justin Parrish (Landover Hills, Md./Fairmont Heights) has been selected as the Mid-American Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Week following his performance in the Golden Flashes' 33-7 win at the University at Buffal on Nov. 6. The announcement was made by the MAC office this afternoon, Nov. 8.-KSU-
Parrish made five total tackles (four solo) against the Bulls and registered a career-high three quarterback sacks. The three sacks give him 13 on the season, setting a Kent State record. The previous mark of 12 was set in 2001 by current Pittsburgh Steeler James Harrison.
Parrish has recorded at least one sack in each of the team's last six games. He jumped from fifth place to second on the KSU career sacks list with 15.5, just two and one half sacks behind the leader.
On the season, Parrish fourth on the team in total tackles with 49, including 28 solo stops. His 13.5 sacks are the most in the nation and his 16.5 tackles for loss rank fourth.
