Curtis, who is now a full-time member of both the PGA and European PGA Tours, recently has competed in Thailand and Hawaii. He is next scheduled to play in the Nissan Open Feb. 16-22 in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
Prior to the game at a private reception, the Kent City Council officially will declare Feb. 11, 2004, as Ben Curtis Day in the City of Kent.
A native of Ostrander, Curtis is married to the former Candace Beatty, a Kent native and member of three womens golf MAC-championship teams at Kent State.
It will be really nice to have Ben and Candace back in Kent and on the Kent State University campus. It should be a great tribute to Ben, said longtime KSU golf head coach Herb Page. This is the first opportunity weve had on campus to recognize his accomplishments in front of the athletic department, the Kent community, and the students and staff of the university.
The recognition of Curtis will be part of a halftime presentation that also will honor Kent States 2003 mens and womens golf teams, which won their respective MAC championships last spring.
Tipoff for the mens basketball game with Buffalo is 7 p.m. EST at Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center.
