Womens Golf Storms Back In Final Round to Finish Tied for Second

KENT, Ohio - The Kent State womens golf team fired a final round 307 to finish tied for second today at the Texas A&M Mo Morial Invitational at the par 72 Traditions Golf Club in Bryan, Texas. The 307 was the best round score out of any team during the tournament. The Golden Flashes finished with a 319-317-307=943, tying for second with Texas A&M and finishing one stroke back of tournament champion Southern Methodists 942.
Freshman Tara Delaney led the comeback, firing a +2 74, a 13-stroke improvement from her 87 in round two. Delaney recorded 12 pars and birdied holes 13 and 18 to finish the tournament strong.
Becky Wood had the next-best round today with +4 76 to grab a top 10 finish. Wood shot par 12 times and birdied the 10th hole. She finished the tournament with an 80-79-76=235.
Senior Gabby Wedding finished second overall with a score of 80-74-77=231, one stroke back of Illinois States Samantha Richdale whose day one lead dwindled with a final round +10 82. The top 10 finish was Weddings second in as many tournaments in the spring season. She also fired a hole-in-one in round two.
Freshman Kira Meixner tied for sixth place for her first top 10 finish of the spring season. Meixner recorded three birdies in the final round.
