Parrish Named to Lombardi Award Watch List

KENT, Ohio -- Kent State University senior buck linebacker Justin Parrish (Landover Hills, Md./Fairmont Heights) has been added to the watch list for the Rotary Lombardi Award, presented annually to the top lineman in college football. The updated watch list was released by the Awards Executive Committee today (Aug. 22).
Parrish is one of 123 players on the Lombardi Award watch list, which includes 63 defensive players. To be eligible for the Award, a player may play on the line of scrimmage or must be a linebacker who lines up within five yards of the football.
The honor is just one of several for Parrish this preseason. An honorable mention All-American from SI.com and second-team All-MAC pick last season, Parrish has been named to the preseason All-MAC Team by nearly every college football preview publications. He was selected as the MAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year by both ESPN/Blue Ribbon Yearbook and CBS Sportline.
Voting for the Rotary Lombardi Award begins at the end of September. The Award will be presented on Dec. 7 in Houston, Texas.
