Women's Golf Tees Off at Mary Fossum Invitational This Weekend

KENT, Ohio - The Kent State women's golf team opens its season when they head to the Mary Fossum Invitational this Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 17-18) at the Forest Akers West Golf Course on the Michigan State campus in East Lansing, Mich. The event is three rounds and features 15 schools. The tournament begins Saturday with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. Teams will play 36 holes on Saturday and conclude the event with 18 holes on Sunday beginning at 9 a.m.
Teams scheduled to participate include: Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Illinois State, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Kent State, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Oklahoma, Princeton, Southern Methodist, Toledo, and Wisconsin.
The Flashes are led by a flurry of experienced veterans, including two-time All MAC selection senior Becky Wood, 2005 MAC Freshman of the Year Tara Delaney and 2005 second team All-MAC selection sophomore Kira Meixner.
Kent State captured its seventh-consecutive MAC title last spring and finished 11th at the NCAA Central Regional.
