Football Adds California QB Edelman To Fold

Edelman posted record-setting numbers as a freshman quarterback at the College of San Mateo last season. He was named the Most Valuable Player in All-State Region I by the California Community College Football Coaches Association after throwing for 1,312 yards and 14 touchdowns and rushing for a school-record 1,253 yards and 17 scores. He helped lead the Bulldogs to an 8-3 record and second-place finish in the NorCal Conference.
Julian is a very athletic player at the quarterback position, said Martin. He can make plays not only throwing the ball, but running it as well. He comes from a good program at San Mateo that has produced a number of Division I football players.
Edelman leaves the junior college ranks after just one season, meaning he will have three years of eligibilty remaining.
As a senior at Woodside High School in 2004, he led the Wildcats to a 13-0 record and Central Coast Section championship and was named first-team all-league and all-county. He totaled 2,237 passing yards and 29 touchdowns in his high school career and also rushed for 964 yards and 13 TDs.
He is the son of Francis and Angie Edelman of Redwood City and plans to major in business management at Kent State.
