Flashes Open 14th at Northrup Grumman Regional Challenge

PALOS VERDES, Calif. - The Kent State University women's golf team opened its spring season Monday (Feb. 12) at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palo Verdes, Calif. and are currently 14th through the first 18 holes. The Golden Flashes posted a team score of 320 in round round, two shots behind the University of California.
Individually, sophomore Kirby Dreher led the Flashes with an opening round 5-over 76 and is tied for 19th place. Junior Tara Delaney is tied for 27th place, one shot behind Dreher at 77. Junior Kira Meixner opened with an 83 and is tied for 64th place with senior Karen Delaney one stoke in back of her in a tie for 69th. Sophomore Maddi Swaney rounded out the KSU contingent with an 89.
Pepperdine University leads the team standings after the Waves posted an opening round total of 297. The University of Florida is two shots back at 299, followed by Arizona State University and Texas A&M University at 300.
The three-day event continues Tuesday at Palos Verdes Golf Club. Round three is slated for Wednesday.
