Dreher Rises to Fourth With Second-Round 69, Flashes Slip to Ninth in Puerto Rico

RIO GRANDE, P.R. -- Sophomore Kirby Dreher sits in fourth place after shooting a career low three-under 69 in the second round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic, two shots back of the leader. Dreher, after opening with a one-over 73 on Thursday, came out firing Friday and posted the Flashes lowest score of the day with a 69. The Flashes slipped to ninth overall with a combined team score of 597, only five strokes behind eighth place Alabama. The Golden Flashes are sitting 17 shots ahead of tenth place North Carolina State.
Also sitting in the top ten, Junior Kira Meixner matched her season low by shooting an even round of 72 on the second day of the tournament, moving her into an eight way tie for eighth place at one-over through two. Tara Delaney and Maddi Swaney both shot in the seventies for Kent State, Delaney with a 77, and Swaney with a 78. Karen Delaney closed it out for the Flashes with a second round 82.
Following the Flashes opening round team score of 301, the Golden Flashes shot a second round score of 296. Through the first two round the Golden Flashes are at +21 with a combined team score of 597.
Oklahoma State's Pernilla Lindberg and Auburn's Marianna Macias are tied for the indivdual lead at four-under through two.
The third round will begin early Sunday morning (Feb. 25), with teams teeing off starting at 8 a.m. EST.
