Men's golf takes 10th-place standing into final round of 2007 Courtyard by Marriott Intercollegiate

HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. -- The Kent State University men's golf team dropped back to 10th place following the second round of the 2007 Courtyard by Marriott Intercollegiate Friday (April 13) at the Devil's Ridge Golf Club in Holly Springs, N.C.
The Golden Flashes opened the event with a first round score of 289, good enough for one-over par and a tie for seventh place with Duke University. However, the squad combined for a 299 on the next 18 holes, bringing its total to 588 and placing it at 12-over par.
The University of Tulsa takes a two-stroke lead into the final round of the event. The Golden Hurricane shot a 293 in the first round, but stormed back thanks to an improvement of 20 strokes in the second to jump ahead of the rest of the field with a total score of 566.
Tulsa found one of its own at the top of the leaderboard, as Mitch Cohlmia shot a 136 to tie the University of North Carolina at Charlotte's Jonas EnanderHedin at eight-under par.
Sophomore Peter Ahn paced the contingent of Golden Flashes, finishing the first day in a three-way tie for 19th place at even par. Ahn shot a 74 in the first round, but improved his game by four strokes to total a 144.
Marc Bourgeois opened the day with a 73 and followed it up with a 74 to enter the final round in a five-way tie for 32nd. The senior ended up with a total score of 147, putting him at three-over par.
Junior Tommy Wiegand was right behind Bourgeois after shooting a second-round score of 78 to total a 148, finishing the day at four-over par. Wiegand opened the event with a 70 to tie for seventh place.
Tom Ballinger found himself in a six-way tie for 50th place after scoring a 150. The junior shot a 73 in the first round, but dropped off four strokes in the second to end the initial day of the event at six-over par.
Freshman David Markle finished the day at eight-over par to close out the leader board for KSU. Markle shot a 79 in the second round after opening the event with a 73, good enough for a total of 152 and a six-way tie for 63rd place.
The final round of the Courtyard by Marriott Intercollegiate will tee off at approximately 7:54 a.m. Saturday (April 14).
