BRYAN, Texas -- Kent State is in sole possession of fifth place midway through the second round of the 15th Annual “Mo”morial Tournament. Hosted by Texas A & M at the Traditions Golf Club, the start of the tournament was delayed a day and the 15-team field was unable to complete 36 holes on Saturday.
Michigan State leads the field at +44, four shots ahead of Denver. Tulsa (+55) and the host Aggies (+56) are in third and fourth, respectively, while the Golden Flashes stand fifth at +62. The teams have between three and six holes remaining in the second rounds.
Senior Tara Delaney is tied for ninth at 13 over par, having completed 12 holes in her second round. Classmate Kira Meixner sits a shot back in a tie for 15th, while sophomore Maddi Swaney is tied for 24th at +16.
Iowa State's Laurence Herman holds the individual lead at +4, while Michigan State's Sara Brown is second at +5 and Tulsa's Woeri Shin checks in at +6.
“We obviously didn't play very well today,” head coach Mike Morrow said. “We weren't real consistent in our approach to a difficult golf course. Hopefully we can have a better day at the office tomorrow.”
The tournament will conclude on Sunday with the remainder of the second round and the final 18 holes.
