Morrow Selected To Coach USA-Japan Matches

KENT, Ohio - Fresh off leading the Golden Flashes to one of the most successful seasons in school history, Kent State head women's golf coach Mike Morrow has been selected to lead the American team at the 2008 Fuji Xerox USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship. The 33rd annual competition will be help July 16-18 at Tokyo Golf Club. The Golf Coaches Association of America made the announcement on Monday (May 12).
Morrow will be joined by Barry University head men's golf coach Jimmy Stobs. The duo will lead a team of 12 players (eight men, four women) as the Americans seek to improve on their 24-8 all-time record in the event.
“It's really an honor to represent the United States, NCAA women's golf and Kent State University at such a prestigious event,” Morrow said. “I'm looking forward to a new experience and to meeting our team and the coaches and players from Japan.”
Nick Bova of Methodist, Auburn's Cydney Clanton, Sam Cyr of Point Loma Nazarene, UCLA's Sydnee Michaels, Kevin O'Connell of North Carolina, Pepperdine's Andrew Putnam, Lizette Salas of Southern California, Wichita State's Ryan Spears, Zack Sucher of UAB, Valdosta State's Brent Witcher, Chris Wolfe of Armstrong Atlantic State and Florida's Jessica Yadloczky comprise the U.S. squad.
Morrow just completed his 10th season as the only coach the KSU women's program has known, leading the Flashes to their 10th straight Mid-American Conference championship and their eighth consecutive NCAA Regional berth. Kent State had 10 top five finishes and won three tournaments in 2007-08, pushing its total to 25 titles in history of the program.
An All-American on the KSU men's squad, Morrow has guided the Flashes to three NCAA Championship appearances while coaching a pair of All-Americans.
