Maheu adds the KSU record-breaking performances on the track

Freshman Audrey Maheu joined the men's distance medley team, who broke the school record on Friday, with a record-breaking performance of her own on the final day of competition at the 2009 Alex Wilson Invitational hosted by the University of Notre Dame in
Maheu finished 13th in the women's mile with a time of 4:49.03 which tops the previous school record (4:49.36) set by Golden Flashes Hall of Famer, Debbie Duplay, in 1993.
On Friday, KSU's men's DMR team of sophomore John Minen, junior Curtis Eaton, Jr., sophomore Destin Heasley, and senior Tony Jordanek shattered the school record when they placed 13th overall with a NCAA Championships qualifying time of 9:32.05. Minen opened with a 2:54, followed by Eaton, Jr who ran the 400 meters in 45 seconds, Heasley clocked a 1:49 in the 800 meters, and Jordanek closed with a 4:01.8 in the 1,600 meters. That quartet broke the previous school standard (9:38.41) set in 2005.
Junior Kelly Gephart was 18th in the women's mile with a personal-best time of 4:56.03.
Classmate Jessica Lhotsky established a personal-best of her own in the women's 800 meters when she finished fourth overall with a provisional qualifying time of 2:06.95. That time ranks third on the Golden Flashes' all-time indoor list.
This was a great weekend for us,” said Kent State Head Coach Bill Lawson. “The DMR team ran an outstanding race to join LeVania Henderson in qualifying for the Indoor Nationals. Audrey (Maheu) set a personal-best in the mile and Jess Lhotsky set a personal-best in the 800. We had a great weekend.”
