Phil Steele's Recognizes 11 Golden Flashes

KENT, Ohio -- Eleven Kent State players were named to the recently released Phil Steele's 2010 All-Mid-American Conference team. Senior linebacker Cobrani Mixon (Cincinnati, Ohio) and freshman defensive lineman Roosevelt Nix (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) were both named to the first team.
Last week Nix became the first freshman to ever be named MAC Defensive Player of the Year.
The Golden Flashes were represented on the second team by senior free safety Brian Lainhart (Cincinnati, Ohio) and junior cornerback Norman Wolfe (Akron, Ohio).
Sophomore wide receiver Tyshon Goode (Syracuse, N.Y.), junior cornerback Josh Pleasant (Germantown, Md.), senior defensive lineman Quinton Rainey (Virginia Beach, Va.) and junior punter Matt Rinehart (Dover, Ohio) were all members of the third team.
Junior center Chris Anzevino (Warren, Ohio), senior defensive end Monte' Simmons (Swissvale, Pa.) and senior linebacker Dorian Wood (Austell, Ga.) rounded out the Kent State contingent by earning a spot on the fourth team.
The Flashes finished the 2010 season with a 5-7 overall record and a 4-4 mark in MAC play.
