Kent State Holds Steady At Lady Puerto Rico Classic

RIO GRANDE, P.R. – Kent State posted another steady round on day two at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic, carding a 301 (+13) to head into the final round in fifth place.
At 600, the Golden Flashes trail only a quartet of top 15 teams in No. 11 Alabama (582), No. 13 Georgia (587), No. 12 Oklahoma State (588) and No. 4 Purdue (591). The 16-team field is playing the 54-hole event at the par 72, 6,219-yard Championship Course at Trump International Golf Club.
Junior Martina Gavier remained tied for 12th with her second consecutive round of one-over, 73. Sophomore Mercedes Germino carded KSU's low round of the tournament – a 72 – to move up to a tie for 16th at 147. Junior Sarah Bradley is in 31st at 152 (75-77), while sophomores Shamira Marshall (76-82=158) and Mandi Morrow (80-79=159) round out the Kent State lineup in 57th and 63rd place, respectively.
Baylor's Hannah Burke fired a three-under, 69 for the second day in a row to take over the individual lead at 138. She holds a one-stroke lead over a trio of players tied at 139.
The final round gets underway Tuesday with a 6:45 a.m. shotgun start.
