Kent State Track & Field Teams Wrap Up Strong Weekend At Sea Ray Relays

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Kent State track & field teams concluded competition at the Sea Ray Relays Saturday (April 16).
Sophomore Kenneth Agee (Shaker Heights, Ohio) and junior Dean Wood (North Richmond, Australia) took third and fourth, respectively, in the men's high jump. Agee posted a season-best leap of 6'-10.75" (2.10m) while Wood matched his season best with a jump of 6'-8.75" (2.05m).
The men's 4x800-meter relay team of sophomore Steve Fischer (Hudson, Ohio), junior Colin Pettiford (Toledo, Ohio), freshman Marteze Roper (Warren, Ohio) and senior Destin Heasley (Massillon, Ohio) took fourth by clocking a 7:49.71 while the 4x400-meter relay team of Heasley, senior Matt Moffett (Salem, Ohio), sophomore Javon Walker (Dayton, Ohio) and sophomore Brandon Bailey (Verona, Pa.) timed in at 3:14.75 for fourth place.
Bailey also placed fourth in the men's 400-meter dash with by clocking a career-best 47.38.
The women's 4x8 squad of sophomore Melinda Sawnor (Rochester, N.Y.), freshman Paige Foster (Prior Lake, Minn.), Josee Charron and junior Audrey Maheu (Bristolville, Ohio) crossed the finish line in 9:39.40 for fifth while the 4x4 team of freshman Kayle Schoenle (Milford, Mich.), freshman Erica Hutson (Akron, Ohio) and freshman Shanequa Williams (Akron, Ohio) clocked a 3:51.67 to take fifth.
Freshman Melissa Kurzdorfer (Lancaster, N.Y.) finished second in the women's weight throw with a toss of 188'-03" (57.38m). She also placed sixth in the women's discus invitational with a toss of 156'-11" (47.84m) in addition to taking ninth in the women's shot put with a throw of 46'-6.25" (14.18m).
Junior Diana Dumitrescu took third in the women's heptathlon with a score of 5,206 points. She won the shot put portion with a toss of 41'-08" (12.70m), took second in the javelin throw portion with a throw of 113'-10" (34.70m) and placed third in the long jump portion with a leap of 18'-10" (5.74m).
Junior Aaron Crabtree (Lucasville, Ohio) took third in the men's discus throw by recording a throw of 161'-04" (49.17m).Â
Junior Princeton Bryson (Shaker Heights, Ohio) timed in at a personal season-best 21.39 in the men's 200-meter dash. He also finished seventh in the men's 100-meter dash by crossing the finish line in 10.70.Â
Freshman Joh'vonnie Mosley (Youngstown, Ohio) finished fifth in the women's discus throw with a toss of 143'-09" (43.83m) and seventh in the women's shot put with a throw of 47'-8" (14.53m).
Redshirt junior Kim Preston (Greenville, Pa.) took sixth in the women's pole vault by reaching a height of 12'-5.50" (3.80m) while sophomore Domenica Rossi (Middleburg Heights, Ohio) tied for seventh with a vault of 12'-5.50" (3.80m).Â
Sophomore Sara Oczypok (Pittsburgh, Pa.) placed sixth in the women's javelin with a toss of 134'-11" (41.12m).
Junor Andreea Patrasc (Bacau, Romania) finished eighth in the women's 400-meter dash after clocking a 1:01.78.
Junior Colin Pettiford (Toledo, Ohio) took eighth in the men's 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.34.
Junior Kiplangat Tisia (Koiybey, Kenya) placed ninth in the men's 5,000-meter run by crossing the finish line in 15:05.64.
Sophomore Steve Fischer finished 10th in the men's 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:56.02.Â
The Golden Flashes return to the Buckeye State next weekend (April 22-23) for the Jesse Owens Classic in Columbus, Ohio.
