Women's Golf Alums Dreher, Gavier Set for LPGA Stage II Qualifying

Former standouts aim to advance towards earning LPGA Tour status
KENT, Ohio – Former Kent State women's golf standouts Kirby Dreher and Martina Gavier will participate in Stage II of the 2011 LPGA Qualifying Tournament Sept. 27-30, as both continue their quest to earn LPGA Tour status. The duo will compete against a 234-golfer field at Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Fla.
Dreher will begin Tuesday's first round teeing off at 12:10 p.m. from the first tee on the Bobcat Course. Gavier will also begin on the Bobcat Course on Tuesday, teeing off from the first hole at 1 p.m.
The 72-hole tournament format will not have a cut; the top 70 golfers (including ties) will advance to Stage III, which will be held Nov. 30-Dec. 4 at the LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla. All other players will receive LPGA Futures Tour status (based on finish) for the 2012 season.
