Kent State Concludes Fall With Final Round of Betsy Rawls

Doyon, Ha finish tied for 27th place against top-ranked field
AUSTIN, Texas – The Kent State women's golf team wrapped up the fall portion of their 2012-13 campaign Tuesday at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational, hosted by the University of Texas at the University of Texas Golf Club. The Golden Flashes slipped slightly on the final day to finish 11th place, seven strokes out of eighth place.
Freshman Josée Doyon (St-Georges-de-Beauce, Quebec) registered Kent State's best individual score on Tuesday with a two-over 74. Doyon blasted the back nine with three straight birdies on No. 16, 17 and 18 to go two-under through her first eight holes and finished tied for 27th place.
Sophomore Jennifer Ha (Calgary, Alberta) shot a three-over 75 on the final day to tie with Doyon for 27th overall with birdie bookends on No. 1 and No. 9.
Senior Jackie Yanch (Barrie, Ontario) and sophomore Natalie Goodson (Hudson, Ohio) each shot a five-over 77 in the final round. Yanch finished tied for 60th overall while Goodson tied for 68th place.
Junior Erin Hawe (Walton, New Zealand) finished tied for 42nd place with Tuesday's six-over 78 to round out Kent State's team effort.
Freshman Tess Fraser (Marysville, Ohio), playing as an individual, withdrew from the tournament after an injury.
Florida edged Alabama via a tiebreaker to take the team title. Florida's Camilla Hedberg bested Alabama's Jennifer Kirby on a one-hole playoff to take medalist honors.
Off for the remainder of the calendar year, Kent State will return to intercollegiate competition with the Lady Puerto Rico Classic Feb. 10-12.
