The Game
Kent State (3-2) wraps up the Joe Cipriano Nebraska Classic on Saturday night as the team heads to Nebraska (4-0) for its first road game of the year. Coming off a season long five-game homestand to start the year, the Golden Flashes now begin a stretch with four of the next five games on the road.
In a last second victory over Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday night, Kent State senior Randal Holt hit a game winning fall away jumper from 15-ft. The jumper was just two of Holt's 13 points on the night as the four-year senior with a reputation of hitting big shots upped his career scoring total to 979 points. Holt's game-winner was set up by junior forward Mark Henniger, who forced a turnover on the previous Bethune-Cookman possession allowing the Golden Flashes the chance to take the lead.
Senior forward Chris Evans is coming off his first double-double of the season as he led Kent State with 14 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Evans leads the team in scoring (16.8 ppg), rebounding (7.4 rpg), steals (2.6 spg) and blocks (1.2 bpg) this season.
Nebraska remained a perfect 4-0 on the year following a 61-57 win over Tulane on Wednesday. Brandon Ubel leads the team with 15.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game this season.
