Blue and Gold Sides Pick Teams

Kent State's Blue and Gold teams were determined Wednesday morning inside the Dix Stadium team room. Each group of seniors was given the option of which position group they wanted to take next and what player they wanted next.
Already with senior guard, Josh Kline (Mason, Ohio), the Blue team opted to go with junior center Phil Huff (Hilliard, Ohio) with the first overall pick.
With its first position choice, the Gold team went to tailback and selected Dri Archer (Laurel, Fla.). Later in the tailback round, the Gold took Trayion Durham (Cincinnati, Ohio), whose status is doubtful on Saturday.
Like Huff, defensive lineman Richard Gray's (Pittsburgh, Pa.) progress this spring was evident in the draft as he was the first defensive player taken. Gray went to the Blue team, shortly before Roosevelt Nix (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) was scooped up by the Gold.
In senior post draft comments Larry Dawson (Akron, Ohio) sounded confident in the gold team's speed making the difference. Meanwhile, blue captain Spencer Keith (Little Rock, Ark.) talked about the importance of being comfortable under a center such as Huff.
The first cornerback taken was junior Darius Polk (Lynchburg, Va.), going to the Blue team. Blue also selected the first safety in junior Luke Wollet (Poland, Ohio), the first linebacker, junior Danny Gress (Englewood, Ohio) and the first wide receiver, sophomore Chris Humphrey (Solon, Ohio).
The Gold team drafted the first tackle in sophomore Terrell Johnson (Pasadena, Md.), the first guard, sophomore Robert Kearney (Durham, N.C.) and the first quarterback David Fisher (Oceanside, Calif.).
Practice session No. 13 will take place Thursday at 9 a.m. Kent State's Spring Game is set for 2:30 on Saturday. Season tickets are on sale now. Call 330-672-2244.
Sitting out Saturday's game will be defensive lineman Dana Brown (McKeesport, Pa.) and Anthony Pruitt (Columbus, Ohio), offensive linemen Brian Winters (Hudson, Ohio), Jason Bitsko (Huber Hts., Ohio),Shawn Wheeler (Brazil, Ind.) and Tyler Arend (Paulding, Ohio), linebacker Luke Batton (Macedonia, Ohio) and defensive back Fabrice Pratt (Miami, Fla.).
Jeff Burrow will serve as the head coach for the Gold team, while Thad Jemison will lead the Blue squad.
