THE GAME
Kent State (3-7) closes out the 2013 year and their non-conference season by hosting St. Bonaventure (9-4) at the M.A.C. Center at 7:00pm Friday night (Dec. 20).
The game marks the fourth straight at home. Last time out, Kent State battled back-and-forth with UMass before falling 61-69. Foul trouble hurt the Flashes, as they committed 33 fouls that resulted in 26 points at the line for the Minutewomen. It also limited starting center CiCi Shannon to nine minutes in the game. Amber Dunlap tried igniting a comeback, scoring eight points in the final 4:14 mintues on two three's and two foul shots, but the deficit could not be overcome. Dunlap and Montia Johnson both finished with a game high 14 points. Janae Peterson had the best game of her career with nine points and seven rebounds.
The Golden Flashes started their current homestand by winning two in a row for the first time since January of the 2011-12 season. With three wins already in their keeping, they have already matched last year's win total. Their most recent victory, a 69-46 domination of Niagara, was the team's largest win-margin since December 1, 2010.
In their three victories, Kent State is averaging 18.3 made free-throws, 44 rebounds and 16 turnovers with a +1.7 turnover margin. They also have had at least three players reach double digits in scoring in the three victories
St. Bonaventure enters the game with a 9-4 record after a thriling 76-71 overtime victory over fellow Mid-American Conference member Buffalo. Prior to that, they fell to Toledo at home by a slim margin of 62-64. Three Bonnies are averaging more than ten points a game, with Katie Healy leading the way averaging 15.1. On the boards, Hannah Little is averaging a team-high 8.4 rebounds a game while Healy is close behind with 8.3. Healy also has 38 assists, 18 blocks and ten steals.
