
Indoor Track & Field Open 2013-14 Season with Golden Flash Gala

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State men's and women's track & field teams will open its 2013-14 season with the Golden Flash Gala hosted at the KSU Field House on Friday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 7.

On Friday, the meet is tentatively set to begin at 1 p.m., and will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday. For a full schedule of events, visit kentstatesports.com.  Results can be found on www.directathletics.com.

Admission for the Golden Flash Gala is $5 for adults and $4 for youth and seniors, per day.

Last year, the Golden Flashes earned eight individual titles, and were led by junior Ann Marie Duffus, who won a pair of events competing for the first time as a Golden Flash. Duffus captured the long jump title with a 18-10.50, then posted the second-best women's 60-meter hurdles time in school history by clocking an 9.50 to win the event.

Brandon Bailey set the school record in the 500-meter dash, clocking a 1:03.57 on his way to a first-place finish. Also, the 200-meter dash was swept by Kent State. Junior Miles Dunlap clocked a personal best 22.00 for the men, while junior Roseanne Erickson recorded a 24.72, which was good for sixth on the school's top-10 list.
After the Gala, the Golden Flashes will host the Doug Raymond Invitational at the Kent State Field House on Saturday, Jan. 11.Â
