CLEVELAND, Ohio—Sophomore Jennifer Ha was among 13 student-athletes to earn 2013 Women's Golf Academic All-Mid-American Conference honors, the league announced Friday (May 24) evening.
With the academic honor, Ha becomes just the second women's golfer in conference history to play at the NCAA Championships, be named MAC Golfer of the Year, claim medalist honors at the MAC Championships, and be an Academic All-MAC selection in the same season. Former Golden Flash Martina Gavier also accomplished the feat in 2010.
A sports adminitration major who carries a 3.26 cumulative GPA, Ha concluded her season at the 2013 NCAA Championships in Athens, Ga. on Friday and tied for 80th after qualifying as an individual. Ha captured the first individual title of her collegiate career at the MAC Championships over the final weekend in April, leading Kent State to its 15th consecutive conference crown. She finished the season with a 76.1 stroke average over 37 rounds and earned first-team all-conference and all-tournament team honors for the second straight season.
Sophomore Natalie Goodson received honorable mention accolades.
For Academic All-MAC consideration, a student-athlete must carry at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests that season. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible. Faculty athletic representatives from each school select the team with remaining nominees receiving honorable mention designation.
Ha's selection marks the 14th straight year the Flashes have had at least one golfer on the team.
