KENT, Ohio – Seven different Golden Flashes tallied a point in Saturday's match against the Bobcats, handing Kent State (5-7, 2-0) a 4-3 victory over Ohio (2-8, 1-2).
After a possession that consisted of five Kent State shots to open the game, Ohio took the ball over and drove down and scored 3:38 minutes in to take an early 1-0 lead.
Eleven minutes later, the first corner of the game was awarded to the Golden Flashes and Julia Hofmann made the most of it, evening the score on a direct shot. Kent State took a 2-1 lead shortly after when Ines Delpech dribbled in from the right side and shot the ball past the Ohio goalkeeper in the center of the net.
Ohio was not about to go away though, as the Bobcats scored on a corner with three minutes to go until the half to bring a 2-2 tie to the break.
In the second half, Kent State again broke the tie and took the lead when Hofmann sailed the ball into the circle for Hannah Faulkner to connect to tie Hofmann with her ninth goal this season.
What would become the game winning goal came at the 62-minute mark when Krysti Lober scored the first goal of her career off an assist by Madison Thompson to give Kent State a two-goal advantage. Ohio found the back of the net three minutes later on a penalty corner to make the final a 4-3 game.
