
Men’s Golf Travels to Bank of Tennessee

KENT, Ohio- The Kent State men's golf team will be teeing off at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, which is hosted by Eastern Tennessee State University and is played at Blackthorn Club at the Ridges in Jonesborough, Tenn. Live scoring will be available at Golfstat.com.
The tournament will begin on Friday, Oct. 10 and run through Sunday, Oct. 12. The 15-team field will play on a special par-72 course layout of 7,147 yards that rests in the foothills of northeast Tennessee. The Blackthorn Club golf course was designed by Arthur Hills, who was twice named Golf Digest "Architect of the Year". The course breakdown can be found by clicking here.
Competing against the Golden Flashes will be Coastal Carolina, Furman, Memphis, NC State, Tennessee, Virginia, Villanova, Army, ETSU, Missouri, Penn State, UNCW, Virginia Teach and Wake Forest.
The Golden Flashes are coming off their best finish of the fall after earning fourth at the Jack Nicklaus Invitational at the Ohio State University Golf Club – Scarlet Course last Monday. Leading the Blue & Gold has been rookie Chase Johnson (Barberton, Ohio), who earned his second consecutive Top-10 performance with a second place finish with a 1-under par 212. Johnson was also just two strokes out of finishing in first place.
Scheduled to compete for Kent State this weekend is junior Sebastian Bendsen, freshman Ian Holt, Johnson, sophomore Chase Parker, sophomore Josh Whalen and senior Taylor Zoller. The play format will consist of five-man teams, with the best four scores counting toward the daily total. Play will be in threesomes with tee times each day.
Bendsen, a solid performer for Kent State, had his best round of the fall at the Inverness Intercollegiate. Bendsen captured seventh place to earn his first Top-10 performance of the season after carding a 65 in the second round to tie the collegiate course record.
Kent State will then wrap up its fall tournament schedule at the U.S. Collegiate at the Golf Club of Georgia from Oct. 17 - Oct. 19.
