Kent State Heads to Northwestern for Friday Night Matchup

Women's basketball will hit the road and head to Northwestern this Friday looking for the team's first win of the season. Game time is scheduled for 8:00p.m. EST.
The Matchup
• The two teams have met just once before, in 1996, when the Wildcats won 78-74 in Evanston
• Northwestern has started this season 2-0 with wins over Chicago State and Hampton
• The team went 17-16 last season and made the WNIT, beating fellow MAC school Ball State in the opening round.
Last Time on the Court
• Kent State fell to Youngstown State 68-49 in the team's home opener Tuesday night
• The two teams battled back-and-forth for the lead in the first half, with the Penguins able to take a 31-27 lead at the break
• The Golden Flashes shot just 25% in the second half to let the Penguins escape with the win
Looking Ahead
• Kent State will host an early 11am game next Tuesday when Belmont comes to town
• The team will then take a trip to California to participate in the Cal Poly Holiday Beach Classic
• At the event, they will play Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Dartmouth on Nov. 28 and 29
Strong Start for Underclassman
• Two games into the season, sophomore Larissa Lurken leads the team in points and three-point field goal percentage
• Freshman Jordan Korinek leads the team in rebounds while Naddiyah Cross leads in assists
• Lurken, Korinek and sophomore Krista White are the only three players currently averaging 30 minutes a game or more
