MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – Kent State's (8-8) late comeback was short-lived against Michigan (8-12-1) on Sunday afternoon (Mar. 16) as the Golden Flashes fell 3-2 in their final game of the College of Charleston Tournament.

"It was a well-pitched game," said Head Coach Jeff Duncan. "Their starter did a good job and our starter did a good job."

Michigan scored one run in the 2^nd inning on a single, stolen base and sacrifice fly to take an early 1-0 lead.

Kent State woke up its bats in the 7^th scoring two. Alex Miklos singled before Zarley Zalewski doubled him home. T.J. Sutton then dropped a single just fair of the left field line to score Zalewksi to give the Flashes a 2-1 lead.

"We were feeling pretty good at that point in the 7^th inning up 2-1," Duncan said.

Michigan was not about to be down long, though, as they plated two in the bottom of the inning after a single, fielder's choice error and a sacrifice fly to take the lead back, 3-2.

"That was the turning point of the game," said Duncan. "We should have been out of that inning."

In the 9^th, Miklos was able to lead off the inning with a double, but then the Golden Flashes went down in order to end the game.

Brian Clark (1-4) went six innings in the start while allowing just one earned run with five hits, two walks and three strikeouts. Michael Clark and Eric Dorsch came in in relief and did not allow a run while allowing just one hit between them. The duo struck out two batters each.

Miklos was the only player with a multi-hit day for Kent State. He went 2-for-4 with a double. Justin Wagler had the game's only triple.

The Golden Flashes open up play at home at Schoonover Stadium on Wednesday (Mar. 19) when they host Youngstown State at 3:00pm. Mid-American Conference play begins Friday when Kent State hosts Toledo for a three-game series.
