KENT, Ohio – Kent State starter Michael Clark allowed one run and two hits in the first inning, and that's all Pittsburgh would be able to do offensively on the night as Clark along with three other Kent State hurlers would not allow a hit through the final eight innings.

"It was a good win for us today," said Head Coach Jeff Duncan. "It was a solid performance by everybody."

The Golden Flashes improved to 23-12 on the season with the 4-1 win while ACC-member Pittsburgh now falls to 16-20.

Clark went five innings for the win with five walks and three strikeouts. John Birkbeck pitched the 6^th inning perfectly. He sat the first two batters down looking on three pitches each before recording the third out on another K. Andy Ravel followed with 2.2 innings of work with one walk and three strikeouts before John Fasola grabbed the save by getting the final out of the game on a strikeout.

With the stellar pitching performance, Kent State's offense didn't need to be as hot as they've been lately, but they continued to produce with four runs on seven hits.

The Golden Flashes scored twice in the 4^th when Zarley Zalewski reached on an error and came home on a Cody Koch double. Koch then scored on a single by Jeff Revesz. They added two more tallies in the 5^th on a Sawyer Polen walk, Jon Wilson single and Alex Miklos fielder's choice and then a double by Justin Wagler.

Wilson and T.J. Sutton both finished the night with two hits. Wilson added in a stolen base while Sutton had a double and a sacrifice.

Kent State hosts Buffalo this weekend in a MAC East battle. The two teams are set to square off Friday and Saturday at 6:00pm and Sunday at 1:00pm. All three games will be aired on Golden Flashes iHeart Radio.
