Kent State looks to continue their success on the track and in the field as they had more than 30 personal-records set this past weekend at the Tennessee Relays on Fri., April 11 and Sat., April 12 in Knoxville, Tenn.
The Golden Flashes swept this past week's Mid-American Conference Track Athlete's of the Week (AOW) awards, as Wayne Gordon was selected the Male Track AOW and Ann Marie Duffus was named the Female Track AOW.
Gordon took home the MAC award after finishing second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.57, which was a personal-best and fourth in Kent State's All-Time Top Performers List. He was the anchor to the 4x100-meter relay team, comprised of Nate Scales, Riak Reese, William Barnes and Gordon, which took first with a time of 40.33 on their way to setting the fifth fastest time in Kent State History.
Duffus finished first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.49, which is one of the top times in Kent State's history as she set her new personal-best. She also competed in the long jump and finished fourth with a mark of 6.01m (19' 8.75").
Roseanne Erickson placed first in the long jump on her way to setting the Kent State Record on Saturday and came away with a mark of 6.30m (20' 8") as she set her personal-best.
Despite a third place finish, the men's 4x400-meter relay set a school record with a time of 3:08.97. The team was made up of Matthew Tobin, Miles Dunlap, Jacob Swords and Laron Brown.
Following the two-day event in Columbus, Kent State has a busy weekend as they head to the Drake Relays, Hillsdale College Relays and the Ashland Alumni Open between April 24- April 26.
