
Women’s Soccer Awaits Bowling Green & Eastern Michigan

KENT, Ohio- The Kent State women's soccer team (7-5-2, 3-3-0 MAC) hosts Bowling Green at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16 and Eastern Michigan at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18 at Zoeller Field. Live Stats and video will be provided via kentstatesports.com.
The Golden Flashes went 0-2 last weekend, falling 3-0 to Ball State, who is currently in first place in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) standings, followed by a 1-0 overtime loss to Miami, who is in first in the east division standings.
Junior forward Jenna Hellstrom (Sudbury, Ontario) leads the MAC in most offensive categories, including points (26), points per game (2.00), goals (9), game-winning goals (4) and assists (8). Hellstrom also ranks 10th in the nation in assists per game (0.62), 11th in assists and 12th in total points.
Sophomore Donavan Capehart (Orient, Ohio) is second on the team in scoring with 14 points on seven goals, and sophomore Hayden Pascoe (Belle Vernon, Pa.) has added 10 points on three goals and four assists.
Freshman goalkeeper Ashleah McDonald (Langley, British Columbia) is 7-4-1 on the year and has one shutout. In 12 games, McDonald has given up 14 goals (1.15 gaa) and has 56 saves (0.800).
ABOUT BGSU
The Falcons enter the weekend with a 6-7-1 overall record and are 2-4-0 in the MAC. Bowling Green dropped two MAC games last weekend, falling to Toledo 2-0 and 1-0 vs. Central Michigan.
The BGSU offense has tallied 23 goals this season, and is being led by Erica Hubert with 15 points on seven goals and one assist. Following close behind is Mikaela Couch with 14 points on five goals and four assists.
Lauren Cadel is 6-6-1 in goal for the Falcons. She has two shutouts this season and has allowed 17 goals and has 90 saves.
Kent State and Bowling Green are meeting for the 22nd time, as the Falcons lead the all-time series 11-5-5. The Falcons defeat Kent State in Bowling Green last year, 1-0, but the Flashes' dominated in 2013 with a 5-1 victory on Zoeller Field. Bowling Green is just 1-4-1 on the road this year.
ABOUT EASTERN MICHIGAN
The Eagles enter this weekend with a 4-8-2 record and a 1-4-1 mark in MAC play. Eastern Michigan is coming off a 0-1-1 weekend where is tied Central Michigan 0-0, and lost to Toledo, 1-0.
The Eastern Michigan offense has produced just 13 goals this season, and is led by Kristin Nason's 10 points on five goals. Eight other Eagles have scored one goal apiece. Rachel Washburn has a five points with her team-high five assists.
Kaylin Williams and Megan McCabe have split time in net. Williams is 3-3-1 and has allowed nine goals (1.25 gaa) and has 31 saves (.775). McCabe is 1-5-1 and has allowed 21 goals (2.89 gaa) and has 35 saves (.625).
The Flashes' and Eagles will meet for the 21st time, as Eastern Michigan leads the series 12-8-0. In the last four years, Kent State has been victorious in three of the four matches, including a 2-1 win in Ypsilanti last season.
After the games this weekend, Kent State will hit the road to take on Central Michigan on Friday, Oct. 23 and Toledo on Sunday, Oct. 25.
