Women's Basketball Wins Exhibition 73-45

KENT, Ohio – Kent State cruised to a 73-45 victory in its first action of the 2015-16 season in an exhibition against Hiram on Sunday afternoon.
Larissa Lurken led all scorers with 24 points while Tyra James finished with 13 and six rebounds. Freshman Merissa Barber-Smith was a point shy of a double-double, scoring nine and grabbing ten rebounds in her debut.
Overall, the Golden Flashes outrebounded their opponent 50-37, including 16 off the offensive glass that resulted in 18 second-chance points. The team also totaled nine steals three by the hands of Naddiyah Cross, and four blocks.
The season will officially begin next Sunday at 2 p.m. when Kent State hosts Colgate at the M.A.C. Center. Tickets are available at kentstatesports.com or by calling 330-672-2244.
