Barnes and Dunlap Lead Men's T&F on Day 2 of Tennessee Relays

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Kent State's men's track and field team opened up the Tennessee Relays extremely well on Thursday, April 10th in Knoxville, Tennessee with two individual victories.

The Golden Flashes team saw two individuals get first place victories on Thursday as the team opened up their relay weekend. Miles Dunlap and William Barnes took first in their respective races, 400m hurdles and the 110m hurdles, in fields of 21 apiece.
Dunlap took first out of 21 runners with a time of 52.75 in the 400m hurdles, while Barnes took first out of those 21 runners in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.80 (+2.0 wind).
Joining Dunlap in the top-15 of the 400m hurdles were Danny Young and Kyle Tywon. Young took eighth with a time of 54.22 as Tywon took 13th at 55.44.
Tywon also joined Barnes in the 110m hurdles in the top-15 as he finished in 10th with a time of 14.78.
Leading the way for Kent State in the 400m dash was Matthew Tobin who took third out of 40 runners with a time of 46.83, which is a personal best and now sits third all-time in Golden Flashes history. Andrew O'Leary ran his way into the top-10, finishing in 7th with a time of 48.19.
Grant Onken found himself running into Kent State history with a eighth place finish in the 1500m run out of 49 runners. Onken finished with a personal-best 3:50.03 as he is now 10th in Flashes history.Â
In the discus competition, David Paliscak led the Flashes with a mark of 49.46m (162' 3") as he finished in third place in the 21-competitor field. Michael King broke into the top-10 with a ninth place finish with a distance of 45.38m (148' 11").
Jonathan Grant led the Flashes in the 100m dash with a time of 10.80 for 24th place out of the field of 46.
Michael King, David Paliscak and Matthias Tayala finished in 13th, 14th and 15th respectively, in the shot put out of 31 throwers. King finished with a mark of 16.73m (53' 3"), Paliscak at 16.03m (52' 7.25") and Tayala at 15.96m (52' 4.5").Â
Kyle Schlumbohm finished in third in the pole vault with a final height of 4.86m (15' 11.25"), while Xavier Braxton finished in 10th in the long jump at 7.00m (22' 11.75").
Kent State continues to participate in the Tennessee Relays on Saturday, April 11th before traveling home. College competition starts at 10am with the women's shot put and track events start at 12:30pm with the women's 3000m Steeplechase.Â
