Flashes 4x400m Relay Breaks School Record on Final Day of Tennessee Relays

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Kent State's men's 4x400-meter relay broke the school record on the final day of the 49th Tennessee Relays presented by Sea Rays in Knoxville, Tennessee on Saturday, April 11th.

The Golden Flashes' 4x400m relay group comprised of Matthew Tobin, Miles Dunlap, Danny Young and Andrew O'Leary made history as they broke the school record with a time of 3:08.88. The four runners took first in the race out of 10 teams. The previous record was set in 2014 set by Tobin, Dunlap, Jacob Swords and Laron Brown in a time of 3:08.97.

The 4x100m relay team – Dunlap, Jonathan Grant, William Barnes and Wayne Gordon – also saw the top-5 of the race as they finished in third out of 12 teams with the seventh fastest time in Kent State history of 40.49.

William Barnes also ran in the 200m dash invitational and finished in fourth place with a time of 21.38.

Matt Kahl saw a ninth place finish at the Relays in the 3000m Steeplechase in a time of 9:29.17.

Matthias Tayala competed in the discus invitational and finished in fourth out of 10 throwers. Tayala had a final mark of 52.94m (173' 8").

Roosevelt Dotson turned in a season best 2.01m (6' 7") for seventh place. Cody Jones opened his outdoor season up with a 12th place finish with a height of 1.91m (6' 3.25").

The Golden Flashes will next travel to the War Eagle Invitational in Auburn, Alabama and the Cardinal Invitational in Muncie, Indiana on Friday, April 17th and Saturday, April 18th.
