KENT, Ohio – A seven-run 7^th inning stunned Kent State (20-15, 8-6) Saturday night as they dropped an 11-4 game versus Ohio (22-14, 8-6).

The Bobcats took advantage of three costly KSU errors, as only five of their 11 runs were earned.

The Golden Flashes looked to bounce back from Friday's series-opening loss as they went up 3-0 with a two-run first and one-run 3^rd. Dylan Rosa started the Kent State offense with a base hit and Sawyer Polen followed with a double. Tommy Monnot then singled home Rosa before Conner Simonetti hit a sacrifice fly to score Polen. Simonetti picked up another RBI on his second sacrifice fly in the 3^rd.

Ohio was able to get on the board with two in the 4^th after a single, error and another base hit. They tied the game in the 6^th on two doubles.

A seven-run 7^th inning broke the game open and resulted in a deficit Kent State was not able to overcome. In the frame, Ohio had five base hits, a walk, a hit batter, a sacrifice fly and an error.

The Golden Flashes were able to get one more run across in the bottom of the inning on two singles and a groundball double play, but the Bobcats also scored another in the 8^th to make it a 11-4 final.

Eric Lauer had a good start, only allowing one earned run in six innings with five hits, one walk and four strikeouts. Tim Faix suffered the loss on two hits, three earned runs and a walk. Zach Spangler allowed three hits and three runs in 0.2 innings, although none of those runs were earned. Eli Kraus was effective in relief, throwing the final 2.1 innings with two hits, one run one walk and one strikeout.

Polen, Zalewski and Revesz all had two-hit days. Polen had the team's only extra-base hit, a double, in the game.

The third and final game of the series is set for Sunday at 1 p.m.
