AUBURN, Ala. – Kent State's track and field teams wrapped up the War Eagle Invitational Saturday, April 18th, but not before another school record fell on the weekend. Junior William Barnes broke the 110-meter hurdles school record, to bring the total to four records this weekend.
William Barnes ran a time of 13.99 in the preliminaries before turning it on in the finals for a first place finish of 13.56. Barnes' 13.56 breaks his personal-best, which was previously 13.89, and the school record, which was held by Ron Andrews at 13.79 set in 2000. Barnes is currently tied for the fastest time turned in this year in the nation.
The men's 4x100m relay team of Isaiah Conkle, Jonathan Grant, William Barnes and Wayne Gordon, came out and took second in a time of 40.54.
Gordon ran in the 200m dash and took home second place with a time of 20.81. Jonathan Grant finished fifth in the 100m dash at 10.67.
Arbria Williams finished seventh in the 100m hurdles with a personal-best 14.15. Williams now moves to a tie for seventh all-time in Kent State history.
Cayla Carey finished in third in the women's long jump with a final distance of 5.63m (18' 5.75"), while Xavier Braxton took seventh in the men's long jump at 6.76m (22' 2.25").
