KENT STATE – PENN STATE HISTORY
• Kent State is 7-7 all-time against Penn State
• Earlier this season, Kent State won at Penn State for the first time in six years to the day in a 9-7 contest
• The Golden Flashes beat the Nittany Lions 4-1 at home last year and the road game was cancelled
• The teams split their two meetings in 2013 while Penn State swept both games in 2012. That second-game loss was the last defeat Kent State had before going on a 21-game win streak en route to the College World Series
POWER SURGE
• The team already has 21 homeruns this season, four short of the 2014 total and matching the team total in 2013
• That does not count the three hit during the cancelled Ohio State game
AWESOME ARMS
• Kent State's team ERA current sits at 3.10 after the weekend
• The Golden Flashes pitching staff has not had a team ERA under 3.50 since the 2011 season, when they finished at 2.66. That stands as the lowest ERA and the only under 3.50 in the past 20 seasons, dating back through 1994
• All three weekend starters have ERAs sub-2.56 with a combined 173:53 strikeout to walk ratio
• Not one of the three starters is allowing an opposing batting average over .234
