Barnes and Gordon Advance to Final Day of NCAA East Regional

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – William Barnes and Wayne Gordon will look to Saturday's races, as they advanced to their respective quarterfinals from events on Friday, May 29th at the NCAA East Regionals at the Unviersity of North Florida's Hodges Stadium. Barnes advanced in the 110m hurdles with an eighth place finish Friday, as Gordon advanced in the 200m dash with a 20th place finish.
William Barnes finished in eighth place in Friday's race with a time of 13.74, and will look to Saturday, May 30th's race at 7:20 pm for a chance to head to Eugene.
Wayne Gordon ran a time of 21.10 in the 200m dash first round for 20th place and will look to tomorrow's race at 7:50pm for his ticket to Tracktown USA.
Jesse Oxley finished in a tie for 15th in the pole vault with a best height of 5.15m (16' 10.75").
Roosevelt Dotson competed in the high jump and placed 22nd with a height of 2.09m (6' 10.25").
Miles Dunlap ran a time of 52.96 in the quarterfinals of the 400m hurdles for a 23rd place finish.
Danniel Thomas originally had a mark of 55.05m (180' 7") in the discus, for a second place and thoughts on advancing to Eugene for the National Championships, but a protest on her throw saw her foul and end discus season. Thomas will advance to Eugene to compete in the shot put on June 10th.
The Golden Flashes return to Hodges Stadium for the final day of the NCAA East Regional in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday, May 30th at 1:30pm with the women's hammer throw. The first track event for Kent State is the men's 4x100 relay group at 6:15 pm.
