Delophont Named to Capital One Academic All-America® First Team

AUSTIN, Texas – Kent State junior Dior Delophont (Nancy, France) was selected to the 2015 Capital One Academic All-America® Division I Women's Track and Field/Cross Country First Team, announced on Thursday, June 25th by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Dior Delophont, a Fashion Design major who carries a 3.88 grade point average, was selected to the Capital One Academic All-America® Teams for the second straight season after appearing on the 2014 Second Team, and was one of 45 athletes named to this year's teams.
Delophont joins Jennifer Buckley and Jeanna Fascione to receive the honor twice in Kent State track and field history. Buckley repeated honors in 1994 (second team) and 1995 (first team), while Fascione was a third team selection in both 2004 and 2005. Fascione earned a program best third-straight selection, as she was a second team honoree in 2006.
She was one of three Mid-American Conference athletes to make the teams as Lea Johnson (Miami University) joined Delophont on the first team, with Brooke Pleger (Bowling Green State University) being selected to the second team.
Delophont capped off her junior season with a 17th place finish (1.77m | 5'9.75") in the high jump at the NCAA Championships.
At the MAC Outdoor Championships, she was named the Most Valuable Performer and was a First Team All-MAC selection. Delophont won both the long jump at 6.01, (19' 8.75") and the triple jump at 13.26m (43' 6"). Her mark in the triple jump was a personal-best and tied the school record; while it also set the MAC Championship meet record and the Ball State Track record.
Delophont will compete in France this summer and will try to qualify for the European U23 Championships that will be held in Tallinn, Estonia on July 9th through July 12th.
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
