Flashes Downed by Hot-Shooting Bobcats

KENT, Ohio – Kent State (3-13, 0-6) fell 93-54 Wednesday night to Mid-American Conference-leading Ohio (14-3, 6-0), who's hot shooting could not be contained.
The Bobcats made half of their baskets on the night, including 17 from three-point range, setting a new MAC record for made treys in a conference contest.
The game started with both teams coming out strong, as the Golden Flashes made their first four shots and the Bobcats made six of their first ten by the 6:48 media break in the first.
Ohio was able to take a 27-21 by the end the first and started the second with a 12-0 run en route to a 51-32 halftime lead. The visitors were able to sink ten three-point shots at the halfway mark and shot 59.4% from the field to earn their advantage.
The deficit continued to mount for the Golden Flashes as the Bobcats never cooled off; it became a 69-43 game at the end of the first quarter and 93-54 final as Kent State totaled an even 11 points in each of the last three quarters.
Kent State won the rebound battle 41-36, including 16 boards on offense. 25 turnovers handed Ohio 48 points in the matchup. The Golden Flashes got to the line 11 more times than the Bobcats where they made 65% of their shots from the charity stripe.
Jordan Korinek repeated as Kent State's high-scorer with a 14 point, five rebounds night. Tyra James netted 12 points while grabbing a team-high eight rebounds.
The Golden Flashes head to Bowling Green on Saturday for a 2 p.m. game. The contest is part of a men's/women's road double-header with their hardwood counterpart taking on the Falcons at 4 p.m.
