
Soccer Hosts Ball State Sunday in Kick for the Cure Match

Kent State soccer will hold its last home match of the regular season against Ball State on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. from Dix Stadium. Kent State soccer will be hosting a "Kick for the Cure" match in partnership with the Kent State gymnastics team.
Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the match and the gymnastics team will be selling t-shirts for the duration of the match. Proceeds from the t-shirt sale will benefit the COSA Comprehensive Breast Center's- COSA Cares program.
The Golden Flashes (11-1-2, 7-0-2 MAC) last saw the pitch on Oct. 20, defeating Miami 3-0 to clinch at least a share of the MAC East Regular Season Championship. Sophomore Dominique DiNardo scored her first career goal in the win. Jenna Hellstrom netted the other two goals for the Flashes and Hayden Pascoe picked up assists on both of Hellstrom's goals.
With a win on Sunday, the Golden Flashes would clinch the number one seed heading into the MAC Tournament and would be the outright champions of the MAC East Division.
RANKING THE GOLDEN FLASHES
• With their win over Miami, the Golden Flashes improved their unbeaten streak to 13 matches, setting a new program.
• Kent State improved their win-loss-tie percentage to .857, which remains in the top-10 in the country.
• With three goals and a shutout against Miami, the Golden Flashes' goals per game average rose to 2.0, while their goals allowed average dropped to 0.64.
• Hayden Pascoe now has five assists this season and needs one more to crack Kent State's top-10 for assists in a season.
• With a goals allowed average of 0.71, Ashleah McDonald is on pace for the second-lowest GAA in a season in Kent State history.
THE MATCHUP
• Kent State and Ball State hold a competitive history with the all-time series tied 9-9-2. The Cardinals however have three straight against the Golden Flashes, but Kent State is 7-3 when hosting Ball State.
• Last season's match in Muncie, Ind. ended in a score of 3-0 in favor of the Cardinals.
• Ball State currently leads the MAC West Division with a record of 12-3-2 (7-1-1 MAC) but are coming off a 3-1 loss to Ohio on Thursday night.
• This season the Cardinals have scored 29 goals while only surrendering 13 goals to their opponents. Sophomore midfielder Emily Scott leads the Cardinals with five goals this season.
UP NEXT
Kent State has already clinch a home match for the quarterfinals of the MAC Tournament, which is slated for Sunday, Oct. 30 at Dix Stadium. The time and opponent for the match will be determined at a later date.
