No. 20 Men's Golf Fourth at Royal Oaks

DALLAS – The No. 20 Kent State men's golf team capped off its fall with a fourth place finish at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate, held at the par-71 Royal Oaks Country Club, with a three-round score of six-over par 1066 (353-362-256). Kent State finishes the fall by claiming a top-four finish in every tournament.
The Golden Flashes ended the tournament by shooting one-over par on Tuesday. Overall, Kent State was five strokes out of second-place Houston and two strokes within Michigan. No. 14 Baylor won the tournament at 31-under par. The Golden Flashes finished ahead of the rest of the field by at least three strokes, and finished six strokes ahead of six teams.
Chase Johnson made a run at the tournament championship in the final round and ended in fifth at six-under 207. He shot his best round of the tournament Tuesday at five-under par 66. It was his second-lowest round of golf this season. Johnson finished four strokes off the leaders.
Bjarki Petursson finished the tournament tied for 13th with a score of one-over par 214. He shot an even par 71 on Tuesday to take his highest finish in a team tournament this season. Gisli Sveinbergsson was a stroke behind him and just outside the top-20. He tied for 21st at two-over par 215 with a 73 in the final round.
Josh Whalen was fourth among Flashes at four-over par 217, good for a tie for 28th. Whalen carded a 74 Tuesday. Top-50 nationally ranked Ian Holt ended tied for 36th at five-over 218. He had his best round of the weekend Tuesday at 72. Finally, freshman Chris Doody claimed a tie for 69th at 21-over par 234, with a final round score of 78.
