
Soccer Concludes Regular Season Thursday at Ohio

Kent State soccer (11-2-2, 7-1-2 MAC) heads to Athens, Ohio Thursday afternoon to finish up the 2016 regular season with a match against the Ohio Bobcats (5-11-1, 3-7-0 MAC). Kick-off from Chessa Field is slated for 3 p.m.
In their last time out, the Golden Flashes fell to Ball State, 2-1 in overtime on Oct. 23. Jenna Hellstrom netted the lone for the Golden Flashes in the 52nd minute of the match.
Hellstrom's goal against the Cardinals brought her weekly total to three, giving way to her being named Co-MAC Offensive Player of the Week.Â
Last Thursday, the Golden Flashes topped Miami 3-0 clinching their first MAC East Division title since 2011.Â
Kent State has clinched at least a top-two seed in the MAC Tournament and can clinch the number one seed with a win over Ohio on Thursday and Ball State loss to Miami. Â

• Kent State leads the MAC in goals scored per game (1.93) and goals against average (0.72).
• Kent State's seven shutouts this season is tied for second-most in the conference.
• Jenna Hellstrom is third in the nation in points per game at 2.27 and seventh in goals per game at 0.87.
• Ashleah McDonald carries a goals against average of 0.80 which ranks third in the conference.
• Hayden Pascoe's five assists this season is fourth-best in the MAC this season.
THE MATCHUP
• The all-time series between Kent State and Ohio stands at 10-11-1 in favor of the Bobcats. The Golden Flashes have won the last six meetings dating back to 2010.
• Last season Kent State topped Ohio by a score of 1-0 from Zoeller Field. Ashleah McDonald made three saves in the match and Jenna Hellstrom scored the game-winner for the Golden Flashes.
• The Bobcats have won back-to-back matches against Ball State and Miami coming into Thursday's match. Â
• As a team, Ohio ranks fourth in the MAC in saves (89) and keeper Erin Beurket is third in the conference in saves per game at 5.36.
• Bryce Hueber leads the Bobcats with four goals and three assists this season.

With a top-two seed locked up for the MAC Tournament, Kent State will host a quarterfinal match on Sunday at 1 p.m. from Dix Stadium. The opponent is yet to be determined.Â
