
Cross Country to Host MAC Championships at KSU Golf Course Saturday

Kent State's cross country programs are set to host the Mid-American Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Kent State University Golf Course. The championship gets underway at 11 a.m. with the women's 6K race followed by the men's 8K at 12 p.m.

Spectators in attendance at Saturday's meet are in for a unique experience as Pritt Entertainment will filming the races via drones and displaying the feed on video boards located on the course.
LAST TIME OUT
The Golden Flashes last competed in the Penn State Open on Friday, Oct. 14, in which the men's team finished 16th and the women's team finished tied for 17th.
In the men's 5.2 mile race, Kyle Brooks finished 62nd overall with a time of 26:09 to lead the Flashes. Finishing just under 30 seconds behind Brooks was Clark Bookman at 26:38, putting him 85th overall.
On the women's side, Caroline Sauers was the top finisher for Kent State in the 6K, coming in 69th place with a time of 21:43. Swann Phelippeau crossed the finish line in 22:01, good enough for 92nd place.
FLASHBACK TO LAST YEAR'S MAC CHAMPIONSHIP
In last year's MAC Championship hosted by Akron at nearby Canton GlenOak Community Park, the men's team finished eighth overall and the women's team finished tenth.
Rachel Slingluff cracked the top-15 in the women's 6K, taking 12th at 21:36.9. Hannah Fleck was the next-best finisher for Kent State, taking 50th with a time of 22:44.2.
The men's team was led by Grant Onken who took 21st with a time of 25:32.3. Ten spots behind Onken in 31st was Kyle Brooks with a time of 25:48.7.
Eastern Michigan swept the men's and women's team titles last season.

Following Saturday's MAC Championships, the Golden Flashes will head to Madison, Wisc. for the Great Lakes Regional hosted by Wisconsin on Friday, Nov. 11, with the meet slated to begin at 12 p.m.
