Flashes Move Up on Final Day to Finish in 5th

RIO GRANDE, P.R. – No. 7 Kent State moved up a spot on the final day of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic to finish in a tie for 5th place with No. 5 Northwestern. The Golden Flashes shot a final round of 296, 8-over par to end at a final score of 886, 22-over.
No. 8 Georgia won the event at 3-over while No. 4 Arkansas came in second at 6-over.
Individually, Wad Phaewchimplee had a top-ten finish as she shot 1-over to equal out at even par through three rounds, good for 6th place. Taylor Kim and Amira Alexander both had a final round of 3-over to be in a tie for 26th.
Michaela Finn was also 3-over on Tuesday to end in a tie for 34th. Josée Doyon had her best round of the event at 1-over to finish tied for 44th. Maddy Mullins was 9-over on the day playing as an individual.
Kent State finished 4th in the field in scoring on par threes, fours and fives. They had the second-most pars in the event with 179. Phaewchimplee was third with a 4-under performance on par fives through the three rounds. Kim tied for the most par holes with 42.
The Golden Flashes have a short break before returning to action March 5-6 at the SunTrust Gator Women's Invitational held in Gainesville, Florida.
