KENT, Ohio – Kent State (5-21, 2-14) fell by ten, 70-60, at the M.A.C. Center Saturday night in a Wagon Wheel Challenge matchup with the Zips (15-12, 9-7).
The Golden Flashes scored the first basket of the day but then the Zips took over and led 23-12 at the end of the first quarter. They then went up by as much as 15 in the second to take a 40-25 advantage into the locker room at the half.
Out of the break, Kent State surged ahead to cut the deficit. Jordan Korinek hit a jumper and McKenna Stephens made a layup before Korinek sunk another to cut Akron's lead to nine points.
